Merdeka! Merdeka!

我是Ketua Kumpulan(算是班长,哈哈!)

Badan besar tak boleh kurang nasi!!!

MERDEKA!

Sepcial Merdeka TV Programme

Another benefit of celebrating National Day: Public Holiday! Now I can use this time to study and have a little story with you.

I woke up quite early today to "chop" my mountain of homework. What else? History, of course! It was a considerable amount of notes to be done until I missed half of the drama. I started my day with my History homework, then I feel so bored that I snacked on some mooncake. Later...

Ta-daa!

My History Homework is done! It was around 8am. I went to watch the Merdeka show aired by TV3 and it was special-no processions and monotonous parades. That was due to the Ramadan month, where the Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset.

Friends, just to ask you a question: Can you imagine marching under the hot sun without a drop of water?

That explains the procession which was in the Bukit Jalil Stadium next year. Themed "Satu Malaysia Menjana Transformasi", the event was oh-so-awesome. I missed the first three segments due to the homework. Aaarrrggghhh!!!

The first scene I saw was a musical performance and the volunteers shaking colourful, flashing cards as neon lights and logos. I knew the process was not easy. The forth segment, which was the group dancing by 600 people, was great! The movements may look delightfully simple but the various formations were tough enough. Just imagine-changing from flower to logo and whatsoever-in merely 20 seconds, I think.

Shortly after that, the soldiers (if I am not mistaken) came with enormous pieces of white cloth holded neaty side by side as though it was merely a piece of it. Laser lights displayed colourful images and patterns on the cloth, displaying the glory of Malaysia. Later, it was their performance with all the millitary acts-with the volunteers forming slogans (I forgot the slogans-sorry). Oh my God! All of them had spun into fast and furious millitary action! At least 100 soldiers perform that simultaneously.

After the soldiers displayed their outstanding talents, it was the TTS (Tempur Tanpa Senjata, i.e. Battle Withous Weapon) team who awe the audiences with "silat" together with some gymnastics elements. It was real and looked like if their teammates were in the danger of being stabbed anytime. I cannot imagine the feeling if I was at the actual venue-watching it on screen is stumming enough for me.

Later, it was the band performance and silent marching from the Malaysian Navy Forces. The band played music well! The silent marching-as it sounded-look difficult enough. The team marched neatly and with many patterns as well, showing great cooperation among the team members.

After that, it was the performance of people donned in colourful traditional outfit-cheongsan, baju kurung, saree... They swayed their flags in pride while singing patriotic songs, such as "Jalur Gemilang", "Malaysiaku Gemilang", "Satu Malaysia"(if I am not mistaken). Once again, the rhythm and synchronization of the moves were near to perfect.

In the spirit of One Malaysia, let we, the Malaysians CHEER-for her 53rd Birthday!

Food Heaven

Another Merdeka post...

Malaysians are quite fortunate as we have LOTS OF FOOD to be savoured! Again, I must stress that this is due to the multiracial community in Malaysia.

Walk down the urban streets and rural alleys in Malaysia-you can see scrumptious food everywhere.

Kuih ketayap, a Nyonya snack. My mom made this, which proved that every race is free to taste and learn each other's delicacy.

Celoteh Masyarakat Malaysia

Masyarakat Malaysia masyarakat harmoni,
Sihat sejahtera indah berseri,
Sentiasa gembira bila-bila hari,
Umpana sinar cerah mentari.

Melayu terkenal dengan kekreatifannya,
Songket dan batik hasil mereka,
Cantik dan indah setiap masa,
Umpama bintang di cakerawala.

Raya Haji dan Raya Puasa
Perayaan yang disambut mereka.
Ketupat dan rendang mesti ada
Begitu juga dengan baju raya.

Cina memang guru masakan,
Goreng dan semua itulah kehebatan,
Restoran Cina di semua sudutan
Umpama cendawan tumbuh tiada halangan.

Ceongsam dan samfu pakaian tradisi,
Tarian singa dan naga sentiasa diwarisi,
Angpau dan perhiasan mesti dipunyai
Supaya tuah dan kekayaan mengunjungi.

Sari dan dhoti kepunyaan India,
Begitu dengan muruku dan vadai mereka,
Deepavali dan Thaipusam perayaan mereka
Disambut pada hari bertuah mereka.

Iban, Melanau, dan Kadazan
Tidak kurang juga keistimewaan,
Hari Gawai dan Pesta Kaamatan,
Dan juga animisme menjadi kepercayaan.

Begitulah alkisah warga Malaysia,
Sentiasa harmoni dan sejahtera,
Tanpa mengira bangsa dan agama,
Bersama-sama membangukan negara.

Bulat

Jika tiada bulat suara
Di mana kita berada?
Di mana kedaulatan tanah tercinta kita?

Jika tiada bulat hati
Di manalah kita menyimpan simpati
Jauh di hati nurani?

Jika tiada bulat masyarakat
Di mana malaikat
Yang selama ini membawa berkat?

Bahawanya bulat itu penting, tiada sudut-sudut
Membawa kita bersama-sama.

Tanah Bertuah

Indah nian tanah bertuahku
Dihiasi dengan bunga-bunga budaya
Dan pokok-pokok kejayaan
Dengan rumah-rumah perpaduan.

Indah nian tanah bertuahku
Yang kaya dengan emas berlian harmoni
Yang aman sentosa dengan langit biru
Yang sentiasa ceria dengan Sang Suria.

Indah nian tanah bertuahku
Setelah dirobek-robek selama hampir empat abad
Namun kau masih teguh berani
Sehingga berjaya mendapatkan kembali sayap yang hilang.

Indah nian tanah bertuahku
Yang berdiri utuh selama lebih setengah abad
Kini kitalah anak-anak merdeka
Yang berperanan menerajuinya

Demi masa depan yang lebih cerah
Demi sinaran suria yang lebih gemilang.

Jom Hayati Sejarah!

Apabila kita menyelak buku Sejarah...

Mari kita mulakan dari Bab Pertama
"Sejarah dan Kita".
Bab ini menyatakan semua
Malaysia negara bangsa, kita wajar mengetahui
Asal-usulnya.

Seterusnya kita melihat pula bab-bab
Tentang masyarakat Malaysia.
Meninjau sejarah bangsa, sejarah yang
Tanpa diketahui sebelum ini
Betapa gigihnya bangsa kita
Membangunkan negara, membina kota raya.

Tetapi akibat kelekaan sedikit,
Jatuh negara kita ke tangan
Penjajah durjana, kita hilang kebebasan
Selama hampir empat abad.
Betapa sengsara moyang kita
Ditindas, dipersendakan, dan diabdikan.

Namun, semangat kebangsaan timbul jua
Untuk memerdekakan tanah air kita.
Lihatlah Antanom, Tuk Janggut
Sanggup pertaruhkan nyawa tersayang
Demi negara bangsa, demi maruah negara.

Tetapi sesuatu penantian pasti ada penamatnya
Selepas sekian lama, masyarakat pelbagai bangsa
Bangkit menentang penjajah penyeksa.
Komunis ditentang habis-habisan
Penjajah Inggeris dibawa berunding
Demi negara tercinta, demi kebebasan kita.

Tanggal 31 Ogos 1957,
"Merdeka" dilaungkan dengan semangatnya
Kita sudah merdeka!

Namun, setelah 52 tahun merdeka,
Minda kita pula hampir dijajah
Ingatlah sejarah bumi bertuah kita.
Jangan alpa, Jangan leka
Kerana kita anak-anak muda
Bakal pelapis bangsa, bakal peneraju negara.

Our Beautiful Garden

Does the garden has only flowers
Of a colour, of a type?
Or does it just look colourful and beautiful,
Like a floral rainbow?

If it has only one colour,
How dull it could be!
People will no longer enjoy
The beauty of the garden.

Like the garden, our country, Malaysia
Is colourful, too!
Look at the culture, environment and food,
These speaks all.

Our garden has various flowers,
The Malays, Chinese, Indians, and the others.
We may take in different substances,
But don't we live in harmony?

Look at our culture,
Dances, Festivals, and so much more
Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali...
We celebrate it all!

Cendol, ketupat, mooncakes...YUM!
Joget, Lion dance, Bharatanatyam...
We hear the music,
We listened and viewed everything nice.

We may speak various languages
But that is not the challenge
For us to unite, for we can
Understand all our friends.

And our environment is mostly a lush greenery,
With the beaches, islands and highlands.
Malaysia may has no natural winter to offer
But the warm cosy atmosphere
Is a hit among us too!

And look at what our forefathers did,
Without them, where is independence
Without them, what will be
Our Malaysia today?

We have plentiful food,
Not to suffer, not to wail.
We have perfect education
To build our mind and soul.

We have our own quality cars
And some savvy modern products.
Not to forget our traditional handcrafts
And tasty local fruits.

Look at our rainbow Malaysia.
It is so beautiful, it is so harmonious
It is a world of oriental symphony.
Let us sing proudly
To the spirit of Malaysia.

Abang Menasihatiku

"Duhai bang,
Adik masih muda,
Adik ingin menikmati segala-galanya."

"Adik ingin bermain, berseronok,
Kerana usia masih panjang.
Nampaknya, tanggungjawab negara
Membebankan adik."

"Duhai bang,
Adik tidak ingin belajar,
Pelajaran mengekang kebebasan adik."

"Adikku sayang,
Pinggirkan tanggapan itu.
Masih muda adik sayang,
Jangan abaikan tanggungjawab anda
Sebagai pewaris bangsa."

"Keseronokan bukanlah semua
Tanpa tenaga muda kita,
Nescaya robohlah negara kita.
Nescaya hilang keseronokan adik."

"Ilmu itu pelindung diri,
Tanpa ilmu,
Hialnglah jati diri."

"Adikku sayang,
Ingatlah masa depan negara
Di tanganku, tanganmu, dan tangan semua.
Jangan leka bermain sahaja,
Tumpukan tenaga kepada negara,
Kelak kita akan bahagia."
