Puss In Boots Movie Review

Well, as mentioned in my previous post, I will give a movie review on Puss and Boots.

Plot of the Movie:

Puss arrives at a town in Spain while escaping from a bounty hunter. There, he learns that the legendary magic beans are with the two menacing outlaws, Jack and Jill. He has looked for the beans for a long time as they can lead him to a giant castle holding valuable golden eggs. A masked cat interrupts and foils Puss' attempt to steal the magic beans from the outlaws' room. Both escaped, and Puss follows the cat back to Cat Cantina, a club, where they have a dance-off and a sword fight, ending with Puss hits the masked cat with a guitar. He learns that his masked rival is a female named Kitty Softpaws.

Kitty is allied with Humpty Dumpty, a talking egg and Puss' long-estranged friend from the orphanage. Overcoming Puss' feelings of betrayal for a youthful misadventure when Humpty roped him in into committing a robbing crime, Kitty and Humpty convince him into joining them to find the magic beans and retrieve the golden eggs.

The trio steals the magic beams which elude the angry outlaws at a canyon chase. Puss and Kitty grew from rivalry to friendship. The planted magic beans soon grew at a quick pace into a gargantuan bean tree, which, according to Humpty Dumpty, leads to a magic castle high up in the clouds. He continues that the golden eggs are guarded by Terror, a giant goose. They sneak the golden goose-ling away as the golden eggs are too heavy to carry. alas, when they are cerebrating their victory, they were knocked down by Jack and Jill, which render Puss unconscious.

When Puss regains consciousness, he tracks Jack and Jill back to his old hometown, where he finds out that it is a plot by Humpty to lure him home to be captured, as a revenge for abandoning him to the authorities where Humpty's youthful heist went bad. Jack, Jill and Kitty were involved in the con. After pleas from his adoptive mother, Imelda, Puss turns himself to the authorities; while Humpty donates many golden eggs to the laymen and becomes a hero.

While in prison, Puss meets the original Jack from the Jack and Beanstalk story , who warns him that the Terror is in fact the golden goose-ling's mother, and will stop at nothing to get the child back which will result a disaster in the town. Meanwhile, a remorseful Kitty helps to set Puss free. Puss convinces Humpty to help rescue the town from Terror, complimenting him that he is actually good at heart. Together, they use the goose-ling as a bait to lure Terror out of town, but Humpty and Terror knock off the bridge with Puss holding on to both of them. Knowing that Puss cannot hold onto both of them, Humpty sacrifices himself by letting off the rope. His shell cracks open to reveal that he is a golden egg inside.

High Notes:

This movie uses languages creatively in an interesting manner. For instance, the usage of rhythmics such as "Give me a puss! " Humpty Dumpty initially told Puss to "Give him a push", but he ended up saying "puss" as he was shocked for being pushed by Puss off the cliff with full force.

Besides, the choreography is cleverly arranged as well, such as the Dance fight between Puss and Kitty. They thrilled the audience with their slick dance moves while fighting at the same time. The cats in Cat Cantina even used all sorts of musical instruments, including fish bones.

Low Notes:

In my opinion, there is nil. It is suitable for families, of course!

I strongly recommend this masterpiece by Dreamworks. Seeing is believing. It is worth the ticket price and time!

P/S: If you have any movie recommendations, kindly recommend to me as well. However, I do not watch movies based on violence, horror and romance. :-D
